VPS Amsterdam

VPS Amsterdam, AMS-IX-adjacent.

We have Linux VPS servers hosted in Amsterdam within the AMS-IX peering facility. The lowest possible latency to all European Internet Service Providers. EU jurisdiction by default.

Servers are powered by latest generation of AMD EPYC processors with high performance NVMe based storage in RAID10 configuration and ECC memory.

Why Amsterdam

The interconnection capital of Europe.

Amsterdam, the interconnection capital of Europe. We host our Amsterdam location in the AMS-IX metro area, directly peering with the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), the largest internet exchange in Europe by number of members. We believe this is the best location to host your European datacenter, as most EU consumer networks connect to the Internet through servers in Amsterdam and thus traffic to and from these audiences is routed through Amsterdam in the shortest possible path.

01

AMS-IX peering depth

Thousands of networks are peering at the AMS-IX, so most traffic destined to EU (consumer) markets is served from within the datacenter where your application is hosted. Therefore, traffic through a third country is kept to a minimum.

02

Sub-15 ms RTT to EU capitals

London, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels and the Nordic countries are all sub-15ms from Amsterdam.

03

EU data jurisdiction

By default, all Customer Data and Our Service logs are stored within the EEA (European Economic Area). We can store data in additional regions on request of the Customer.

04

Renewable-heavy grid

Datacenter energy metrics for the Dutch market as a whole are released annually by relevant parties. We host your servers in Amsterdam on a facility that runs off a high amount of renewable energy with a low PUE.

Network

Multi-homed transit. Public ASN.

The Amsterdam region is multi-homed across multiple tier-1 providers. The Amsterdam datacenter sector is connected on AMS-IX peering. Our Public ASN is disclosed in our customer panel. We offer IPv6 on all VPS hosted at our Amsterdam datacenter.

Built for

Workloads serving European users.

EU SaaS platforms

Multi-tenant SaaS platforms that serve customers based in the EU. Peering depth combined with EU jurisdiction.

E-commerce backends

Shop fronts / e-commerce backends (DE, FR, BE, NL, IT, ES & Nordic), Sub-15 ms to every major European city.

Mail infrastructure

For mail we use Postfix or OpenSMTPD. Ensure good sender mail reputation. Configure reverse DNS for the mail server. Enable outbound mail after review.

GDPR-sensitive data

We keep personal data of residents of the EU in the EEA. Operational logs, backups and snapshots are kept within the EEA by default.

EU API backends

Our European API backends for mobile and web applications have p50 latency to EU users as a primary operational goal. Our multi-homed transit is at the edge of our platform.

Mirror of US workloads

The same workloads in New York mirrored for EU customers in Amsterdam, same plans, same API, same price for EU customers too.

Pricing

Three series.
Same price in NY.

We have three tiers: Standard, Dedicated CPU and High Memory. All are the same platform for workloads that have a biggest single bottleneck (e.g. big RAM app, big CPU app, big disk app). And the same price in NY.

Compare every plan
Standard$18.40/moShared 1:4 vCPU, S-4 to S-64
Dedicated CPU$29.60/moPinned 1:1 cores, D-4 to D-64
High Memory$199.20/mo1:8 RAM ratio, H-64 to H-192

FAQ

Common questions

Where exactly is the Amsterdam datacenter?
Our Amsterdam region is powered from a Tier III equivalent datacenter within the Amsterdam metropolitan area next to AMS-IX peering infrastructure. Our official company address is Vlierweg 12, 1032 LG Amsterdam.
What latency can I expect to other EU cities?
Average latency to other EU cities: 5-10 ms to London, 8-12 ms to Frankfurt, 10-15 ms to Paris, 5-8 ms to Brussels, 15-25 ms to Stockholm. Note that these latency numbers are averages and are heavily dependent on your ISP routing over the internet.
Is my data subject to EU law?
Yes. The Amsterdam region is EU jurisdiction. Customer data, operational logs and backups remain in the EEA unless you explicitly opt into cross-region storage. We also abide by EU laws such as GDPR.
How does Amsterdam compare to New York for transatlantic workloads?
Internet latency from Amsterdam to New York is about 75-90 ms over the public internet. Amsterdam is generally preferred for users in the EU, and New York for users in the US. Companies with user bases on both sides of the Atlantic often run primary services from one region and mirror sites from the other.
What hardware runs in the Amsterdam region?
AMD EPYC Milan on Standard and High Memory servers, AMD EPYC Genoa on Dedicated CPU servers. DDR4 ECC on Standard and High Memory servers, DDR5 ECC on Dedicated CPU servers. NVMe RAID10 storage on all servers.
Can I get a static EU IPv4 from Amsterdam?
Yes. Every VPS is shipped with one IPv4 address by default. Reverse DNS on this IP address can be changed in the control panel. Additional IPv4 addresses can be ordered as an add-on and usually need approval by our team, in the best case a few minutes after the order was placed.
Is outbound mail allowed from Amsterdam?
By default, we cap the amount of mail that can be sent by a VPS to prevent abuse and to keep the IP address from getting blacklisted. Once you have logged into the customer portal and filled out the information on why you need to relay more mail than the cap, we can remove the cap for your IP address. Reverse DNS for mail purposes can be set for your IP address in the customer portal.
How fast can I deploy in Amsterdam?
A VPS from us is up and running within a minute from placing an order. Within a minute or less you can also reinstall your VPS with another distribution (for example Ubuntu to CentOS).
Does the Amsterdam region have its own status page?
We have a region-specific status page. For planned maintenance we publish the dates and times in advance on the status page. For unplanned outages we will notify you as soon as possible of the cause.
Can I migrate from Amsterdam to New York later?
Yes. Take a snapshot, restore it in the New York region, cut traffic over and decommission the old VPS. There is no live cross-region migration; the snapshot path is honest and reversible.
