This page lists how BuyVPS bills a server: what you pay, when you pay it, how you stop, and what the first month for 1 does and does not include. Everything below comes from the order form and the Terms of use; where the Terms are the source, the clause is named.

Billed per month
Servers are also provided on a recurring subscription basis. So they automatically renew for further periods of time (until you cancel in accordance with Terms of use clause 17). Servers are also available on a 1 year or 2 year subscription basis. In all cases the monthly subscription option is also available on each plan.
No setup fee
The plan price is the amount on the invoice. There is no activation or setup charge, in either region.
Cancel any time
You cancel a server from the billing section of your account. There is no notice period: cancelling on any day of the period means the next renewal does not happen (Terms, "Automatic renewal and stored payment methods").
Invoice before the charge
Each renewal invoice is sent in advance of the charge date. If for any reason the automatic charge fails we advise the customer prior to the service being suspended and payment by manual means can be made (Terms, same section).
Same price in both regions
This server is available in Amsterdam and New York, and it carries same hardware and price to either location. The only difference between the two is the currency in which you will be billed, which you can change in the order form.
Shown before every renewal
Before every renewal you can see the amount, the currency and the billing cycle at checkout and in your account (same section of the Terms). What you see there is what we charge, nothing else.
What happens when you cancel
Also note that there's one obvious question that everyone asks: what happens if I cancel halfway through a month.
You cancel in your account
Billing section, any day of the period. You can also turn off automatic payment, or change or remove the stored card, in the same place.
The paid period runs to its end
Note that paid time remains paid time regardless of whether or not you choose to cancel the server mid month. Cancellation of a server does not immediately shut it down. It simply prevents automatic renewal of the server beyond the end of the paid period during which cancellation occurred.
No further invoice
The subscription does not renew, so no new invoice is created. Take your backups before the end date.
Refunds for unused days are not automatic. Clauses 17 to 20 of the Terms of use set out when a refund can be requested and when an administrative fee applies. Clause 20A adds a 30-day performance guarantee on a first order: if you are not satisfied with the performance of the server, you can claim a full refund within thirty days of activation, with no administrative fee. Refunds go back to the payment method that was used.
Payment methods and your stored card
Payments run through Stripe. The methods you see on the payment page depend on your currency and, for the first month for 1, on the offer.

How renewals are charged
When you pay by card you authorise us and Stripe to store the card securely and to charge it for each renewal, and for add-ons you order later, using the payment details on file (Terms, "Automatic renewal and stored payment methods").
You can turn automatic payment off, change the card, or remove it from the billing section of your account. With automatic payment off you pay each invoice manually.
A payment that is late may lead to the payment method being frozen and the service being suspended (Terms, clause 17). The invoice in advance and the failed-charge notice exist so that this does not come as a surprise.
Euros or dollars, monthly or on a term
Note that prices are fixed for each currency and are not subject to exchange rate fluctuations. Prior to payment, you can switch the currency selected by your location on the order form.
The currency of your account is the one you check out in; the amount, currency and billing cycle are shown in your account before every renewal. The plan tables on /plans/ show both currencies with a switch.

The term discount is on the plan's monthly price, applied per month over the whole term; the term is invoiced up front. Monthly billing is the default on every plan and carries no discount and no minimum term. Every change to these prices is dated on the pricing history.
The rules of the first month for $1
A real server on a real plan for one month at a fixed amount, after which the normal monthly price applies. These are the plans it covers right now, read live from the order system:
S-2S-4S-8S-16S-32S-64D-4D-8D-16- One per customer. The offer applies once, to one server.
- Monthly billing only. It does not combine with a 1-year or 2-year term; a "Try for 1" button always opens the monthly option.
- Then the normal monthly price. From the second month the plan renews at its listed monthly price, for example S-2 at $7.99 per month. Cancel before the renewal and there is no second invoice.
- Card, iDEAL or Wero. PayPal is available on the first month as well as on regular orders.
