Where exactly is the US VPS hosted?
Our USA VPS is hosted in New York City, at the Hudson Street carrier hotel. Not in New Jersey or somewhere else in the metropolitan area, that gets routed through New York. If you want to know the exact building we host in, we can provide you with that information.
Is the IPv4 US-allocated and US-geolocated?
Yes. The IPv4 addresses on VPS's in the USA are US-allocated and geolocate to US East Coast in MaxMind, IPinfo and ipgeolocation.io databases. If any of your other applications (e.g. your customer database) consistently fail to geolocate IP addresses from our VPS's to USA, then there must be some other problem with your application and we can resubmit the relevant IPv4 prefix for you.
What jurisdiction applies to data hosted on a USA VPS?
The data plane of the USA VPS's is physically located in the United States. The lawful access to data (also known as data disclosure) is determined by the location of the data plane and the contracting party. The contracting party of our hosting services is a Dutch BV registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KvK 98861468). The published information of both layers (physical location and contracting party) are not hidden behind a brand front.
Can I run outbound mail (SMTP) from a US VPS?
Setting up SMTP out on port 25 for your account should take a few minutes after you have set up your VPS. After that you can set up the rDNS for your IP address in your panel. After which your sender reputation on US IPv4 addresses should improve quickly.
What is the SLA?
99.8% across all 3 layers (Compute, Storage, Network). If not met, service credits will be paid as stated in our Terms of Use.
Is DDoS protection included?
As volumetric attacks are being scrubbed at the edge of our infrastructure before they even reach your VPS such service is included in our offer and there is no extra charge for it. Also, there is no service charge per attack ( Layer 7 attacks are customer's responsibility ).
Can I move workloads between the New York and Amsterdam regions?
Yes, the plans are available in both regions and are identically priced (same SKU), they even are managed by the same control plane / operator API, hence many customers even have a hot replica running in the other region.
How long does provisioning take?
Less than 2 minutes for Linux-based Stock Images. The upload of an ISO for a Custom Image will take as long as the upload of that ISO. After that it is boot time immediately.
Does the price change at renewal?
No, the renewal price for VPS hosting at ServerPoint will be the same price for VPS hosting that you signed up for initially when you started your account and there is no so-called "introductory rate" that will be in effect at the time of your renewal.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, plans are cancelable at any time with no termination fees. (Plans get pro-rated to the day of cancellation).
